The Physics and Electro-Optics Group is looking for a Senior Physics Engineer reporting to Detector Physics team Leader in the physics Department

Role and Responsibilities:

The Physicist will be part of a team dedicated to IR-detector development in the physics group. He will participate to the conception and development of detectors and accompany its development through the different stages of the projects from conception to inception at customer’s. The physicist will also support the production line and should provide insights from physics perspective to the different functions of the company during the project development: Process teams, material growth, VLSI, Electronics, Mechanics, Marketing. The physicist should will have a system view of the detector with capability to understand the underlying physics process at material level, VLSI, and system level.

The position includes important part of experimental work in laboratory environment, simulations development, data analysis and regular reports to management and project development team.

The lead physicist should demonstrate important autonomy and leadership capabilities.

Background requirements:

• Phd in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Electro-Optics, Aeronautical Engineering or related field in engineering.
• Msc Candidate with relevant background, achievement and excellent record
• At least 3-5 years of relevant experience, an advantage
• Strong technical experience in at least two of the following fields:
• Semi-conductors, Solid State Physics, Electro-Optics Devices, Lasers, Image Processing, Optics, Simulations, data analysis.

Skillset Requirements:

• Proficiency in Matlab is mandatory, Python a strong advantage

We are looking for an Application Development Engineer to join our R&D – Physics & Electro-Optics Group. This role is at the crossroads of physics, electro-optics, hardware, and software, offering the chance to work hands-on with advanced imaging systems and engage with global customers.

What you’ll do:

• Serve as a technical focal point for application development and system integration.
• Support field evaluation and testing of electro-optical modules and systems.
• Provide customer support, training, and troubleshooting – locally and internationally.
• Collaborate with R&D, Engineering, and Business teams to ensure robust system performance.
• Contribute to prototype validation, data analysis, and technical feedback for product improvement.

What we’re looking for:

• M.Sc. (or PhD) in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Electro-Optics, or similar.
• 3+ years of relevant experience (or 5+ in the industry).
• Expertise in at least two of: system engineering, electro-optics, electronics, opto-mechanics, image processing, or embedded software.
• Strong programming/scripting skills (MATLAB, Python).
• Excellent communication skills, teamwork, and customer-oriented mindset.
• Fluency in English and willingness to travel abroad.

The Physics and Electro-Optics Group at SCD is looking for a Research Physicist reporting to Director of Physics and Electro-Optics.

Role and Responsibilities:

The Research Physicist will be part of the Physics R&D Group, working with a team of scientists on a variety of projects in Infrared Detector and Laser Diode technologies. The remit will include the development of modelling, in particular, of IR detectors at pixel level with semiconductor and optical simulations. The successful candidate is also expected to provide theoretical expertise and guidance to members of the Physics R&D Group.

Specific responsibilities will also include:

• Accompany development projects with simulation and modelling support
• Contribute to development of analytical solutions to complex problems
• Collaborate actively with other disciplines and groups in the organization, providing feedback and support from a physics perspective
• Closely cooperate with other physicists in the Physics Group
• Conduct experimental measurements in a laboratory environment and characterize devices to improve agreement between simulation and experiment
• Contribute to Physics Group strategy development
• Adhere to high quality standards and attention to detail in reporting and presentation of results

Background requirements:

• PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Electro-Optics / Optoelectronics or a related field in science and engineering
• Very strong theoretical background and analytical skills
• An MSc-qualified candidate with a relevant background, exceptional achievement and excellent track record may be considered
